Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Theatre Scrub Practitioner in the General Theatres (Band 5). The role covers a range of elective and emergency surgical activity including robotic surgery and multiple specialties.

You will maintain aseptic technique, manage instruments and assist across theatres, contributing to safety and continuous improvement. The post requires UK recognised qualification in Adult Nursing or Operating Department Practice and active NMC/HCPC

Qualifications

• UK recognised qualification in Adult Nursing or Operating Department Practice.
• Active registration with the NMC or HCPC.
• Scrub experience in an operating theatre setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique and provide safe scrub assistance for procedures across multiple theatre specialties.
• Prepare, check and manage surgical instrumentation, implants and equipment as required.
• Accurately perform instrument, needle and swab counts and participate in safety checks (WHO checklist).
• Anticipate intraoperative needs and support patient positioning and theatre preparation.
• Supervise and support learners and junior staff, acting as a professional role model.
