Job summary

Circle Health Group in Stirling is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre department. Orthopaedic scrub experience is preferred and the role is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern.

You will prepare instruments, maintain sterility, support the Anaesthetist with equipment preparation and patient monitoring, and contribute to safe post-operative care and discharge readiness.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or HCPC registration.
  • Theatre experience in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery preferred.
  • Understanding of infection control and patient safety principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare instruments and maintain sterility for theatre lists.
  • Assist the surgical team and anaesthetist with equipment and monitoring.
  • Position patients and support airway management and recovery.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
  • Ensure equipment is checked, report faults, and work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support a positive, efficient theatre environment.

Job description

Kings Park Hospital in Stirling is part of Circle Health Group, Britain’s leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. Orthopaedic Scrub experience is preferred.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:
  • Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
  • Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
  • Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
  • Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
