Job summary

Bupa's New Victoria Hospital in Kingston upon Thames is seeking a Theatre Practitioner Scrub to join a busy surgical unit. The role offers a permanent contract, full-time 37.5 hours, with varied shifts including early, late and alternate Saturdays.

You will provide high-standard care within the theatre team and support multidisciplinary decision-making. Applicants should be a Registered Nurse (Adult) Part 1 or equivalent with current NMC/ODP-HCPC registration, and at least 1 year of hospital

• 1-year theatres, hospital experience required.
• Up-to-date clinical knowledge essential.
• Awareness of customer care and nursing developments.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard of professional practice and clinical care under supervision.
• Promote a good working environment within the theatre team.
• Implement basic nursing care independently and complex care with supervision.
• Document care accurately using Meditech Expanse and evaluate.
• Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
• Participate in multidisciplinary decision-making and operating list changes.
• Coordinate work priorities for junior staff.

Job Description: Theatre Practitioner Scrub Location: New Victoria Hospital, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey Contract: Permanent Hours: 37.5 Shifts: Monday- Saturday. 5 days per week. (Alternate Saturdays 07:30-4pm) Early: 07:30-4pm. Late: 12:30-9pm. Half day: 07:30-1pm Salary: £44,605 per annum

New Victoria Hospital (NVH) in Kingston upon Thames is a well-established private hospital offering a wide range of elective surgical services. The theatre department consists of 3 operating theatres and 1 dedicated endoscopy unit, supporting specialties including Orthopaedics, ENT, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology and Endoscopy, providing staff with exposure to a varied and high-quality surgical caseload.

How you’ll help us make health happen

You’ll provide a high standard of professional practice and clinical care under direct supervision, working within the theatre team to promote a good working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement basic nursing care independently.
• Implement new/complex care with supervision.
• Practise in own clinical area of practice to agreed competency level.
• Implement research-based practice.
• Participate with the multi-disciplinary team in decision making regarding patient care.
• Accurately document care using Meditech Expanse and evaluate accordingly.
• Recognise potential clinical challenges and ways of dealing with them.
• Effectively communicate with patients and colleagues.
• Facilitate a question-and-answer dialogue with patients and relatives.
• Be able to demonstrate listening skills and the use of non-verbal cues.
• Evaluate written information and documentation.
• Actively contribute to team discussions.
• Participate in the multi-disciplinary decision-making process regarding changes in patient care and order of operating lists.
• Communicate work priorities for a given period to junior colleagues.
• Demonstrate awareness of others’ emotional, physical and psychological situation and respond sensitively.

What we’re looking for

• Registered Nurse (Adult) Part 1
• NMC register or ODP-HCPC registered
• 1-year Theatres, hospital experience
• Up to date clinical knowledge
