Job summary

Bupa UK is seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner Scrub for Orthopaedics/Spinal at Bupa Cromwell Hospital in Greater London. The role requires a skilled professional to provide clinical and technical assistance in a busy operating theatre.

With a salary range of £46,195 – £54,700 per annum plus excellent benefits, you will ensure high standards of patient care while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. A one-off Golden Hello of £3,000 or up to £5,000 towards relocation costs is also offered.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with specific qualifications and training for procedural support.

Monday to Sunday.

Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Bupa Cromwell Hospital - SW5 0TU (5 minutes walk from Earls Court underground or 7 minutes walk from Gloucester Road underground.)

Our main adult theatre is a busy and dynamic environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have six operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.

What You’ll Do

To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.

• Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
• Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
• Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment.
• Assist the team leaders in the personal development plans of junior staff.
• Prepare patients for clinical/operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide assistance in clinical/operative procedures, both anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide immediate post-operative care.
• Provide initial emergency care as required.
• Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety.
• Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co‑ordinator.
• Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
