Job summary

Circle Reading Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is recruiting a Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre team. This full-time 37.5 hours per week, 9-month fixed term contract offers a salary up to £40,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.

Role involves assisting surgical teams, supporting anaesthetics and providing post-operative care while adhering to infection prevention policies. Candidates must be NMC or HCPC registered with theatre experience.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience in a theatre environment (scrub, anaesthetics or recovery).
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve and respond quickly to changes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments and maintaining sterility.
• Support the anaesthetist in equipment prep, monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vitals, manage pain and nausea, prepare for discharge.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Check equipment prior to use and report faults; work within a multidisciplinary team.
