Job summary

Circle Health Group is hiring a Theatre Practitioner for Ophthalmology at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington. The role is 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis, with a flexible shift pattern. The Theatre Practitioner will support the surgical team and ensure sterile, well-prepared operating theatres.

Applicants must be a Registered Nurse (NMC) or HCPC-registered, with theatre experience and strong infection control knowledge. Circle Health Group offers competitive salaries and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience or training in a theatre environment (scrub, anaesthetics or recovery).
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterility; anticipate surgeon needs and assist with equipment safety.
• Support anaesthetist with equipment prep, monitoring, airway management and patient positioning; provide post-op care.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Check surgical/anaesthetic equipment and report faults.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient lists.
• Contribute to a positive, respectful theatre environment.
