Job description

Join to apply for the Theatre Practitioner - Maternity role at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of a new operating theatre team for Maternity. York and Scarborough NHS Foundation Trust provides care to women living in and around York, North Yorkshire, and the East Coast, with an increasing demand for Caesarean Sections (elective and emergency).

We are looking for experienced Scrub Practitioners to join our Maternity operating theatre team in York and Scarborough. This is a valuable opportunity to work within our multidisciplinary team and make a positive impact in our community.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate either:

  1. 3 years’ experience in Maternity Theatres, OR
  2. 3 years’ experience in Gynae, GI, Vascular, or Urology Theatres.

Part-time hours are available, with a minimum of 23 hours (2 shifts per week).

If you are currently employed by the Trust and wish to apply on a secondment basis, please seek permission from your line manager before applying.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Demonstrating and developing clinical assessment skills and prioritizing patient care during surgical/anesthetic procedures.
  2. Supporting patients and families, communicating clinical information effectively.
  3. Contributing to the development of patient care within operating theatres, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  4. Preparing and organizing the clinical area for elective and emergency procedures.
  5. Safely identifying, preparing, checking, and assembling equipment required for the operating list.
  6. Adhering to the NMC / ODP professional Code of Conduct.
