Job summary

Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Theatre Practitioner for bank shifts in the Theatre department. This is an 'as and when required' role to cover busy periods and staff leave, working on an hourly rate up to £25.00.

You'll join a multidisciplinary team, preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, and supporting the anaesthetist and surgical staff to ensure safe patient care and smooth lists. Prior theatre experience and HCPC/NMC registration are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) required.
• Experience or training in a theatre environment in at least one area.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to changes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, maintain sterility, and support surgeon needs.
• Assist anaesthetist with equipment prep, patient monitoring, airway management.
• Provide post-operative care and discharge readiness.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type.
• Check equipment and report faults.
• Work with multidisciplinary team for safe lists.
• Promote a positive and efficient theatre environment.
