Job summary

Circle Health Group in Aberdeen is seeking a Theatre Practitioner for bank shifts in the Anaesthetics department at Albyn Hospital. The role involves supporting the theatre team, assisting anaesthetists, and providing post-operative care when needed.

This bank position requires registration with the NMC or HCPC and experience in a theatre setting (scrub, anaesthetics or recovery). A commitment to infection control and patient safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with theatre experience.
• Experience in scrub, anaesthetics or recovery is preferred.
• Strong infection control, manual handling and patient safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterile environment, supporting the surgical team.
• Assist anaesthetist with equipment, monitoring, airway management and patient positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vitals, manage pain and nausea, ensure discharge readiness.
• Adhere to infection prevention policies and report equipment faults.
• Set up operating theatres per surgery type and patient requirements.
• Collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient lists.
• Contribute to a positive and respectful theatre environment.
