Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the team at The Park Hospital in Nottingham. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern, and part-time hours may be considered.

You will assist the surgical team, prepare instruments, maintain sterility, support the anaesthetist, and provide postoperative care. You should be a registered nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) with theatre experience and a commitment to infection control and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Theatre experience or training in scrub, anaesthetics or recovery.
  • Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and anticipating surgeon needs.
  • Support the anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring and positioning; provide postoperative care.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
  • Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful and efficient theatre environment.

Job description

The Park Hospitalin Nottinghamis part of Circle Health Group, Britain’s leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. Part time hours will also be considered.

Duties of this role include:
  • Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
  • Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
  • Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
  • Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
