Theatre Porter position in Surgical Day Care at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a fixed‑term 12‑month role. You will move patients and goods between theatres and other departments and support the anaesthetic, theatre and recovery teams.

You will also handle equipment cleaning, blood/specimen transport, and assist with the decontamination and mass haemorrhage response teams. Good written communication and basic IT skills are required; theatre experience is desirable.

Qualificações

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic IT skills (keyboard, email, simple data entry).
• Theatre experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsabilidades

• Transport patients and goods between theatres and departments.
• Support anaesthetic, theatre and recovery teams in patient care.
• Maintain and clean theatre trolleys and complete safety checklists.
• Provide clog wash service to the theatre department.
• Collect and sign for blood products and transport to theatre.
• Check and deliver specimens to histopathology, haematology and bacteriology.
• Support the massive haemorrhage team, carrying the bleep.
• Support the decontamination team outside normal working hours.
• Assist the materials management team as required.
• Communicate with ward/theatre staff, answer phones and bleeps.
• Keep corridors free of hazards and debris.
• Follow trust policies on health and safety, COSHH, fire, lifting and handling and security.

What the job involves

• Transport patients and goods between theatres and other departments

• Maintain and clean patient theatre trolleys to the SOP, completing safety and cleaning checklists
• Provide a clog wash service to the theatre department
• Collect and sign for blood products from the main laboratory, transport them to theatre and account for blood placed in the fridge
• Check and deliver specimens to histopathology, haematology and bacteriology in a timely way
• Support the massive haemorrhage team, carrying the bleep and responding
• Support the decontamination team outside normal working hours
• Support the materials management team as required
• Communicate with ward and theatre staff, answering telephones and bleeps
