Job summary

Nottingham Playhouse is seeking a proactive Facilities and Maintenance Technician to join our team. Based at a Grade II* listed theatre, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, support safety checks and assist with events, ensuring the building remains safe and welcoming for staff, visitors, and performers.

You’ll work in a busy public environment, using your practical experience to identify defects, coordinate with contractors, and maintain plant and service areas while upholding

Qualifications

• Experience in practical maintenance or facilities work in a workplace, public building, venue or similar environment.
• Ability to identify defects and safety risks and take corrective action.
• Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g., Trello) to track tasks and updates.
• Good communication and record-keeping for completed work and issues.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs and minor improvement works across the Playhouse.
• Conduct daily maintenance walkarounds and identify defects, hazards and operational risks.
• Support the planned preventative maintenance programme and routine compliance checks (fire doors, sprinkler systems, water hygiene).
• Coordinate access and assist contractors on site, ensuring safe working practices.
• Maintain plant rooms, boiler room and basement storage areas in a safe, orderly condition.
• Support room setups, workshops, events and hires as required.
