Job summary

Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology is seeking a Test Solutions Engineer for a permanent role in Severn Beach, Bristol. You will lead the development and maintenance of automatic test equipment, design control systems, and create schematics and BOMs to support manufacturing excellence.

You will collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams, drive continual improvements in test methods, and contribute to new product introduction and obsolescence planning.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in Electronics or related discipline.
• Strong electronics knowledge and hands-on engineering experience.
• Experience with high-frequency RF matching and signal processing.
• Programming and software development experience.
• AutoCAD or CAD design experience.
• Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the specification, development, commissioning, and maintenance of Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).
• Design and manufacture control systems, including software solutions, for test equipment.
• Create and maintain schematics, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve test methods, schedules, and procedures.
• Train and certify Test Engineers in using test equipment and addressing failures.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through testing and validation of first‑article components.
• Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to define critical product test requirements.
• Drive robust, cost-effective test solutions across the supply chain.
• Conduct performance studies, accelerated life testing, and product comparisons.
• Maintain test data and use insights to improve diagnostics and reliability.
