Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Bristol is seeking a Test Solutions Engineer to design, develop, and maintain Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) for cutting-edge semiconductor and quantum technologies.

You will lead testing automation, train engineers, and collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to define test requirements and improve reliability. This permanent, on-site role offers a competitive salary and benefits, with opportunities for career development.

Formación

• HNC in Electronics, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience with high-frequency RF matching and signal processing is essential.
• Programming and software development experience needed.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the specification, development, commissioning, and maintenance of Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).
• Design and manufacture control systems, including software solutions, for test equipment.
• Create and maintain schematics, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve test methods, schedules, and procedures.
• Train and certify Test Engineers in the effective use of test equipment and field/test failures, identifying improvements to prevent recurring issues.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through practical testing and validation of first‑article components.
• Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to define critical product test requirements.
• Drive the implementation of robust, cost‑effective test solutions throughout the supply chain.
• Conduct performance studies, accelerated life testing, and product comparisons to support future product development and obsolescence planning.
• Maintain test data and use insights to improve diagnostics, performance analysis, and reliability.

We're looking for a talented Test Solutions Engineer for a permanent role based in Severn Beach, Bristol, to join our Manufacturing Engineering team and help drive excellence across our testing processes and equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing and improving automated test solutions, supporting new product introduction, and influencing manufacturing and outsourcing.

You’ll Be Doing

Essential Skills & Experience

• HNC (or equivalent) in
  Electronics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong electronics knowledge and hands‑on engineering experience.
• Experience with high‑frequency RF matching and signal processing.
• Programming and software development experience.
• AutoCAD or similar CAD design experience.
• Excellent problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Desirable

• Degree‑level qualification in Engineering or a related subject.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated test systems.
• Knowledge of manufacturing environments and product testing processes.
