Test Facilities Electrical Design Engineers are responsible for the design, specification and definition of gas turbine research and test facilities in Derby, Bristol, Solihull and worldwide. The role offers opportunities for developing skills, knowledge and experience in this exciting industry.

Responsibilities

Work Experience

• Delivering test facilities which are safe in operation and during ongoing maintenance.
• Capturing and developing requirements into concepts through to full detailed design.
• Developing electrical engineering designs and calculations.
• Oversight of the manufacture, installation, inspection and testing of designs.
• Working with the product definition engineering team (detailing/CAD department).
• Provide a technical design monitoring/oversight role.
• Chair/support design reviews.
• Peer to peer review and approvals.
• Developing verification schedules.
• Supporting acceptance testing procedures.
• Legislative compliance design monitoring oversight.
  
  

Experience/Qualifications Required

• Minimum HND/HNC qualified in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification with suitable experience in an Electrical Engineering Design role.
• Experience of working within an OEM engineering project environment.
• Experience in preparing and delivering technical reports and documents.
• Experience in developing, testing and evaluating engineering designs.
• Self-motivated team player, with good interpersonal, planning and execution skills
  
  

Additional Skills/experience Advantageous But Not Essential

• Familiarity with British and other Standards (BS, EN, ISO Standards)
• Electrical Low Voltage design (BS7671)
• Control and Instrumentation (C&I) design (BS6739)
• Functional Safety (IEC 61508 and IEC 61511)
• Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution
• CEng or IEng (or working towards)
• Electrical design software (such as Amtech)
• Experience with Siemens NX/Teamcenter
