Job summary

Our client, a leading defence and security organisation, is seeking a Test Equipment Engineer for a six-month contract based in Cheltenham. You will develop, integrate and test industrial test equipment used in aerospace and defence applications, with emphasis on hardware and cross-disciplinary testing.

The role covers hardware integration, LabVIEW and NI toolchains, software and systems testing, fault analysis and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in test equipment engineering or similar technical discipline.
• Strong hardware integration skills.
• Experience with LabVIEW and National Instruments tools.
• Understanding of software testing and systems test processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate test equipment for industrial applications.

Job description

Our client, a leading organisation within the defence and security sector, is seeking a Test Equipment Engineer for a six-month contract based in Cheltenham. The role will involve developing, integrating and testing industrial test equipment used in aerospace and defence applications, with a strong focus on hardware alongside software and systems testing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing and integrating test equipment for industrial and engineering applications
• Working across both hardware and software aspects of test systems
• Conducting software testing, systems testing and hardware verification
• Supporting the development and maintenance of LabVIEW and National Instruments-based test solutions
• Collaborating with software, hardware, mechanical and test engineering colleagues
• Investigating faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective technical solutions
• Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, test procedures and engineering records
• Ensuring test equipment meets project requirements and operational standards

Job Requirements:

• Experience in test equipment engineering, test engineering or a similar technical discipline
• Strong hardware engineering and hardware integration skills
• Experience with LabVIEW and National Instruments tools or platforms
• Understanding of software testing and systems test processes
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across hardware and software interfaces
• Experience working with BAE test engineering environments or comparable industrial test systems would be advantageous
• Clear technical communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Eligibility for SC clearance, with the ability to start subject to BPSS checks; UK eyes only due to ITAR restrictions
