Job summary

Redline Group Ltd in Colchester, Essex, is seeking a Test Development Engineer for a hybrid role (3 days onsite, 2 days remote). You will help develop Automated Test Equipment for high‑performance embedded computing systems and support production testing across the product lifecycle.

The role requires collaboration with hardware, software, manufacturing and verification teams to influence testability from design through production.

Qualifications

• Experience developing or supporting Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
• Knowledge of Design for Testability (DfT) and BIST concepts.
• Hands-on experience with test instrumentation and diagnostics.
• Ability to work with hardware, software and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Define DfT requirements during new product development and PCB reviews.
• Develop and maintain ATE requirements for embedded hardware platforms.
• Design ATE hardware including fixtures and interface adapters.
• Collaborate with software to automate production test sequences.
• Support NPI, pilot builds and transition to production.
• Validate production test systems before manufacturing release.
• Troubleshoot test faults and perform root cause analysis.
• Improve manufacturing yield, throughput and test efficiency.
• Create and maintain test procedures and interface docs.
• Support ongoing maintenance and calibration of ATE systems.
• Work with cross-disciplinary teams to optimise test strategies.
