Job summary

The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for the design, manufacture, verification and validation, along with through-life technical support of board level, sub-system and system level test equipment.

Important

All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance.

Location: Harlow (fully onsite)

Duration: 12 month contract

We have multiple opportunities available with this team and are on the lookout for both perm and contract members of the team!

Responsibilities:

• Design of functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies and systems.
• Take responsibility for the design and overall quality of the test equipment and provide leadership and guidance for junior engineers.
• Document design specifications and implementation details. Participate in design reviews. Uphold design standards and methodologies.
• Develop complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable test hardware solutions.
• Implement detailed technical items with an understanding of system level considerations.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to agree on system designs, interfaces, and protocols.
• Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
• Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and answering product queries.
• Manage obsolescence of test hardware throughout its lifecycle.
• Monitor and report progress of test development to supervisors and teams.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
• Conduct activities in line with company values, policies, and ethics.
• Perform other activities as reasonably requested by management.
• Apply Design Review Processes.
• Manage engineering risks and opportunities.
• Guide Test Development processes and tools.
• Contribute to resource planning using Microsoft Project.
• Lead small/medium scale test engineering programs.
• Identify and engage SMEs for Test Development activities.
• Approve standard/tailored test development processes.
• Interface with external customers and suppliers.
• Possess excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
• Write comprehensive technical design documentation.
• Support handover and management of designs in production.
• Support/debug system integration.

Desired Skills:

• Experience in Defence / Aerospace or safety-regulated environments is advantageous.
• Use of Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
• Understanding of test architectures like PXI/LXI.
• Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design and validation.
• Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
