• Proven experience as Test Automation Engineer or similar role.
• Design and maintain automated testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client seeks an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join their Technology team and play a key role in delivering high-quality solutions across the technology landscape.

The successful candidate will work closely with Software Engineers, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Product Owners and business stakeholders to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. This role will focus on developing and maintaining automated testing capabilities, improving quality engineering standards, and supporting the successful delivery of strategic technology and transformation initiatives. The role combines technical expertise, quality assurance, automation and continuous improvement to help ensure our platforms and services are reliable, scalable and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites across multiple applications and platforms.
• Embed quality engineering principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Work closely with development teams to define, create and execute automated test cases covering functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing.
• Identify, analyse and troubleshoot defects, working collaboratively with engineering teams to support timely resolution.
• Support the implementation and continual improvement of testing standards, methodologies and best practices.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices by integrating automated testing into deployment processes.
• Develop and maintain test data, testing environments and automation assets.
• Monitor test execution results, quality metrics and coverage to support informed delivery decisions.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners and stakeholders to understand requirements and define effective test strategies.
• Support non-functional testing activities including performance, resilience and reliability testing where appropriate.
• Promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement and automation across the Technology function.
• Provide guidance and support to colleagues on test automation tools, techniques and quality engineering practices.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in a Test Automation Engineer, Quality Engineer or Software Test Engineer role.
• Experience designing, developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, principles and best practices.
• Experience working with modern automation tools and frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, SpecFlow or equivalent technologies.
• Knowledge of API testing tools and approaches.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing into software delivery processes.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
• Experience working with cloud-based applications and modern software architectures.
• Experience within Microsoft technology environments, including Azure, would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and quality engineering principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
• Experience within banking, wealth management or other regulated environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
