Job summary

SSE is seeking a Test Analyst to play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our digital products and services. Working in a cross-functional Agile team, you’ll shape testing strategies and enable delivery of innovative solutions that benefit customers and colleagues.

As part of SSE Energy Solutions, you’ll contribute to the digital transformation journey, collaborate with delivery teams, and drive continuous improvement while mentoring peers and maintaining high testing standards

Qualifications

• Experience in testing best practice and development lifecycle.
• Ability to adapt testing processes to optimise delivery of outcomes.
• Experience applying risk-based testing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality testing activities across your workstream, ensuring solutions are reliable, robust, and meet user needs.
• Build strong collaborative relationships with delivery teams, stakeholders, and business colleagues to drive successful outcomes.
• Provide test expertise throughout the delivery lifecycle, including planning, test execution, defect management, and reporting.
• Work closely with Delivery Leads to define testing approaches, environments, data requirements, and delivery plans.
• Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance testing practices, processes, and quality standards.
• Support and mentor colleagues, role model best practice, and help foster a secure, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.

Base Location: You’ll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Reading, Cardiff, Havant, or Perth

Salary: £50,964 - £60,899 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern:Fixed Term contract /Secondment -8months | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

Working as part of a supportive, cross-functional Agile team, you’ll help shape testing strategies, champion best practice, and enable the delivery of innovative solutions that make a real difference to our customers and colleagues.

You will

You have

• Ability to work in environments that are undergoing change, working in an iterative and adaptive manner
• Display a solid understanding of testing best practice and the development lifecycle with good experience of applying this knowledge
• Ability to adapt testing processes to optimise delivery of outcomes
• Experience of applying risk based testing techniques
• Be competent in the use of multiple test management tools
• Ability to negotiate timelines and other delivery metrics across product lifecycle
• Have the ability to motivate and lead a team of testers and report accurately to management
• Shows a high level of planning aptitude
