Job Title: Test and Development Engineer
Location: Farnborough
At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility.
We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission whether you’re engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.
As an Engineer within our Test Development team, you'll play a key role in delivering vehicle, chassis, structural, and component testing programmes that support the development of innovative bus and coach products. Working on projects ranging from in-service failure investigations through to full vehicle validation and supplier sign-off activities, you'll ensure that systems and components perform safely, reliably, and in line with technical and legislative requirements.
This is a highly practical role that combines hands‑on testing, project coordination, data analysis, technical reporting, and collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and external test facilities.
We're looking for a proactive and technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion.
You’ll have experience within automotive, commercial vehicle, bus, coach, HGV, specialist vehicle, or other complex engineering sectors such as rail, aerospace, marine, or mobile plant. You should have a solid understanding of vehicle systems and testing methodologies, along with the ability to analyse technical data, coordinate testing activities, and communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.
A hands‑on approach, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting colleagues across multiple projects are essential.
