Job summary

Hopwood Hall in Middleton is seeking a Work Based Assessor on a fixed-term contract until July 2027. The post is term time plus four weeks with a salary of £34,156 per annum, pro rata £35,984. The role covers assessment, internal verification, learner support on work placements and accredited units.

You will liaise with employers, monitor learner progression and uphold quality standards including Gatsby benchmarks, supported by CPD and VLE tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum L3 qualification in work-based assessing.
• Assessor qualification (D34/33/A1).
• Maths and English Level 2/C/4.
• Experience of supporting learners with SEND is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor learners according to college and national standards, policies and procedures.
• Plan and deliver a strategy of placement visits/contacts to ensure learners are supported and making progress.
• Monitor health, safety and safeguarding procedures in work experience placements; maintain records and act on concerns with the line manager.
• Ensure effective liaison with employers to keep them informed and identify training opportunities; document progress.
• Attend health and safety meetings and report placement concerns.
• Review learners undertaking work-based practice and select appropriate assessment methods.
• Set and review targets in line with college timetable and record on Promonitor.
• Identify learners at risk and report to line manager.
• Maintain records in line with college standards; include attendance, ILP, planning documents.
• Participate in internal verification of work-based learning assessments.
• Assist with promotion of study programmes and work placements.
• Maintain CPD and industry knowledge; use VLE skills.
• Ensure skills for working environment are updated; CPD for SEND and total communication approach.
