Job summary

Downend School is seeking a dedicated Study Centre Assistant to support students, especially those with low literacy, under the Literacy Lead. The role involves delivering planned learning activities, providing feedback to teachers, and promoting inclusive education within a supportive team.

You will work 30 hours per week during term time plus INSET days, with a permanent, part-time contract. A proactive, flexible approach and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE Level 5/Grade C or above in Maths and English.
• Experience supporting pupils with diverse needs.
• Ability to work independently and show initiative.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to pursue relevant qualifications and CPD.

Responsibilities

• Deliver learning activities and pre-planned lessons to individuals or small groups to raise literacy and curriculum outcomes.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and help plan support activities.
• Support inclusion and implement Individual Plans where required.
• Use ICT effectively to support learning and promote student independence.
• Assist with supervision during breaks or school activities.
