Job summary

Empowering Learning is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Leeds (Wetherby LS22). You will support pupils with diverse needs, work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, and help create an inclusive learning environment.

Term-time only, with a pro rata salary of 19,000 to 23,000. The role requires GCSEs in English and Maths, DBS clearance, and a proactive, patient approach to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or SEND setting.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and learning difficulties.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Encourage pupils' independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, parents and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records where required.
• Promote a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment.
• Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes and educational visits when appropriate.
