Job summary

Caterlink is hiring an Assistant Chef at Hylands School, Chelmsford. The role involves planning, preparing and cooking nutritionally balanced meals for pupils, while maintaining high standards of service and food safety. You will support kitchen operations and ensure excellent customer experience in a school setting.

The position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7.30am–2.30pm, term-time only, with a salary of £14.50 per hour. DBS check will be obtained as part of safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications

• Organised and reliable with strong time management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, preparing and cooking meals to required standard.
• Brief kitchen teams on menus and service expectations.
• Ensure food safety and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Carry out basic kitchen bookwork and reporting as required.
