Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a School Crossing Patrol Officer for Great Bradfords Infant and Junior School in Braintree. The role focuses on safeguarding children as they cross Marlborough Road during school term times.

The position runs 3.45 hours per week across 39 academic weeks, 14:50–15:35, Monday to Friday. Salary is £13.46 per hour. Uniform, equipment and training are provided; visa sponsorship is not available; right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility-impaired pedestrians.
• Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
• Assess risks at the crossing site and report problems to the supervisor.
• Assist in the preparation of reports on incidents at the crossing site.
• Ensure uniform and equipment are maintained and replacements requested when needed.
• Give clear signals to drivers and ensure the road is clear of pedestrians before crossing.
