Job summary

Guardian Angel’s RC Primary School in Bury is seeking a reliable School Cook to join the catering team. The role is 30 hours per week during term time, with a permanent contract and start date ASAP. Salary on Grade 3, SCP 5-6 (£18,307-£18,598) pro rata to FTE, with full-time equivalent around £26,427-£26,847.

Your duties include safe meal service, hygiene, cleaning, logs, and supporting cost-efficiency while delivering high-quality meals in a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Experience in catering or kitchen environments.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic workplace.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, COSHH and HACCP regulations.
• Assisting with organising on-site or transported meal service.
• Carrying out general kitchen and dining room duties, including cleaning and equipment setup.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and house-keeping.
• Completing simple clerical tasks (e.g. temperature logs, cleaning records).
• Promoting positive customer relations and contributing to portion control and cost-efficiency.
