Job summary

Holroyd Howe in Scarborough is seeking a General Catering Assistant to support daily dining operations for pupils and staff in a school environment. The role runs Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 19:00 during term time, offering an excellent work-life balance with all school holidays off.

You will assist with meal preparation and serving, maintain a hygienic kitchen, operate equipment safely, and help with dining area setup and stock rotation.

Qualifications

• Previous catering experience preferred.
• Effective time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and under pressure.
• Good customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
• Flexibility to work term time and 12:00–19:00, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, snacks and beverages.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including washing dishes and utensils.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support the catering team in food storage and stock rotation.
• Serve customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
• Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas.
