Job summary

Newcastle City Council is seeking a Catering Assistant for the East End Area to join our School Meals team. The role is 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday with term-time only hours; you will assist with washing equipment, basic food preparation, and serving meals to children, while upholding hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Reliable and friendly people with a positive attitude to join our School Meals team.
• For roles with higher hour commitments, prior relevant experience will be discussed at interview.
• This post is working in regulated activity; a DBS check will be undertaken as part of recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Wash catering equipment and general kitchen cleaning.
• Assist the chef with food preparation and maintain hygiene standards within service deadlines.
• Assist with tidiness and presentation of the service area; serve meals to children and describe meals available.
