Job summary

ISS Facilities Services in Steyning is hiring a part-time Catering Assistant for term-time work. The role covers food preparation, service and maintaining hygiene in a school environment. Salary is £12.71 per hour, with pattern Monday to Friday 11:30–13:30.

The successful candidate will join a supportive catering team, and safeguarding and food safety commitments are required. Experience in catering or hospitality is desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering, food service, hospitality, or customer-facing role desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding, food safety, and delivering excellent service.
• Ability to follow procedures, and instructions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation, presentation, and serving of meals.
• Set up and clear dining areas as required.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
• Follow allergen, dietary, and special meal requirements.
• Receive, store, and handle food deliveries correctly.
• Operate tills where required.
• Report health and safety concerns, accidents, or equipment faults.
• Provide a friendly and professional service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Work collaboratively as part of the catering team to deliver an excellent customer experience.
