Job summary

South Ayrshire Council is seeking a School Assistant (Term Time) at Forehill Early Years Centre to relieve teachers of non-teaching duties and assist with preparation of teaching materials.

You will support learning activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, and help pupils, including those with additional support needs, in a supportive environment.

The post requires PVG Scheme membership and registration with the SSSC within six months; interviews are scheduled for 02/09/2026.

Responsibilities

• To relieve teachers of non-teaching duties including classroom administration and practical tasks such as the preparation of teaching materials.
• Support the learning activities of children under the direction of the classroom teacher / Principal Teacher and other colleagues.
• Support pupils with additional support needs of a wide nature which include physical difficulties and challenging behaviour.
