Job summary

Merryfields School in Newcastle-under-Lyme is hiring two Ancillary Assistants on a maternity cover basis. The roles are part-time, term-time only, from November 2026 to November 2027, with a 32.5-hour week (varied start/end times).

You will support the Class Teacher by preparing the classroom, maintaining resources, and assisting children with learning and personal needs. Full training will be provided, with ongoing CPD, coaching and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in a school, nursery, or care setting is preferred, but not required as full training will be provided.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support the Class Teacher in preparing the classroom for lessons and maintaining equipment and resources.
• Support children with their learning and personal needs; assist with health and welfare as required.
• The role will be directed by the class teacher and requires a caring, team-focused approach.
