Job summary

Merryfields School in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, is seeking two enthusiastic Ancillary Assistants to join in November 2026 on a maternity cover basis. The roles are part-time, term time only, with a 32.5-hour week and a salary paid across 12 months.

You will assist the class teacher, prepare learning spaces, support personal needs and learning, and help maintain equipment. Full training and CPD are provided; there is potential for career progression within the Trust.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in a school, nursery, or care setting preferred but not required.
• Full training will be provided.
• Roles are part-time, term time only, maternity cover.

Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in preparing the classroom for lessons.
• Support children with personal needs and their learning.
• Maintain general equipment and resources.
• Work as part of a caring team to support the school community.
