Job summary

Early Years Academy in East Ham, London is seeking a Nursery Deputy Manager for a term-time role. You will support the Nursery Manager, lead practitioners and ensure high standards of care and education in line with EYFS while following safeguarding procedures.

The role follows a term-time calendar with exact weeks and hours to be confirmed. Experience in leadership roles within an Early Years setting is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• A recognised Early Years or Childcare qualification appropriate to a Deputy Nursery Manager position, preferably full and relevant Level 3 or above.
• Significant experience working in a nursery or Early Years setting.
• Previous experience as Deputy Nursery Manager, Third in Charge, Senior Practitioner or Room Leader.
• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding.
• Knowledge of Ofsted expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Experience leading, supervising and motivating nursery teams.
• Ability to manage staff deployment and daily operations.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Support the Nursery Manager with day-to-day running of the nursery.
• Lead, motivate and support nursery practitioners and room leaders.
• Maintain high standards of childcare, education and safeguarding.
• Contribute to EYFS curriculum implementation and learning quality.
• Support staff development, induction and performance feedback.
• Ensure effective communication with parents and carers.
• Balance operational duties with leadership responsibilities.
• Prepare for Ofsted inspections and maintain safe, welcoming environments.
