Job summary

Hertfordshire Catering Ltd (HCL) is hiring a Deputy Group Chef to support the Group Chef across multiple education sites. You will help manage a mobile workforce, maintain food quality, and ensure safety compliance while facilitating site mobilisations and community engagement activities.

You will lead staffing deployment, assist with recruitment, and drive operational excellence in a term-time schedule environment. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Experienced Chef or Kitchen Manager with multi-site/mobile experience.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Solid knowledge of food safety, health & safety, and allergens.
• Organised, adaptable, and able to work across multiple locations.
• Passionate about food quality and customer service.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Workforce planning and deployment to keep kitchens staffed.
• Develop and manage a mobile catering team and rotas.
• Line management and training for mobile staff with HR compliance.
• Provide hands-on kitchen support and monitor costs and waste.
• Ensure high standards of food safety and allergen management.
• Assist with recruitment and site set-ups for new sites.
