Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Library and Learning Resources Assistant for a part-time, term-time only role in Hove, East Sussex. Start ASAP, salary dependent on experience. The role involves organising and cataloguing resources, assisting pupils, and promoting reading and independent learning.

The ideal candidate will have library support experience, strong organisation, and good communication with children. DBS check will be required in line with the role.

Qualifications

• Previous library or learning resources experience is desirable.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communicating with children and young people.
• Interest in reading, literacy and education.
• Familiar with digital cataloguing systems and Microsoft Office.
• Patient and able to work independently.
• Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Organise, catalogue and maintain books and learning resources.
• Assist pupils with locating suitable reading materials and using library facilities.
• Manage book loans, returns and overdue items.
• Maintain an orderly, welcoming and well-presented library.
• Support staff with sourcing resources for lessons and projects.
• Assist with reading initiatives, displays and library activities.
• Monitor library use and encourage appropriate behaviour.
