Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking a Passive Fire Estimator in St Helens to price tenders for fire stopping, compartmentation, and related maintenance contracts across the UK, Ireland, and EU. The role requires taking off drawings and building rates for labour, materials, plant, access, and preliminaries, with close collaboration to handover results to the Contracts Team.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating passive fire protection projects.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications and extract quantities.
• Strong commercial judgment and cost understanding.

Responsibilities

• Price tenders for fire stopping and compartmentation packages.
• Price maintenance contracts across UK, Ireland, and EU.
• Complete detailed take-offs from drawings, surveys, and specs.
• Build accurate rates covering labour, materials, plant, access, and preliminaries.
• Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors for quotations and attend pre-tender/ client meetings when required.
• Prepare clear, well-documented tender submissions and handover to delivery team.
• Review completed projects against original estimates and identify lessons learned.
• Work with QS to improve future pricing and manage multiple tenders with deadlines.
