Job summary

Eastergate CE Primary School in Eastergate, Chichester, is seeking a full-time inclusion teaching assistant to support Early Years and KS1, including pupils with EHCPs or SEND needs. The role starts ASAP and is temporary for one academic year, with Lunchtime Supervisor duties included.

The post offers 25 hours weekly during term time (8.30am–3.15pm), with a pro-rata salary in SCP 3-4 band and a separate 5-hour weekly Meal Supervisor grade. Applicants are encouraged to visit the school.

Responsibilities

• Support children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

Temporary Teaching Assistant with Midday Meal Supervisor Duties

Term time only (38 weeks plus 5 Inset Days) 8.30am – 3.15pm

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Temporary for one academic year initially

Teaching Assistant: Grade 3 SCP 3-4 (£24796 to £25185 p.a. pro rata) 25 hours per week

Midday Meals Supervisor: Grade 2 (£24413 to £24796 p.a. pro rata) 5 hours per week

What You Need to Succeed

Experience of working with vulnerable children and those with SEND would be an advantage. You will need to have strong Maths and English skills, GCSE grade C or equivalent, IT skills and an NVQ of Level 2 or above in a relevant course. An understanding of neurodivergence and a willingness to be educated further in this area, developing knowledge and practice through supporting individuals with a variety of SEND needs.

We are looking for candidates:

• Who are passionate and enthusiastic about working with children, particularly children with special educational needs, and developing their learning
• With the ability to support children on a 1:1 basis and in smaller groups
• Who are keen to work as part of team but also show good initiative to plan and lead learning
• With good communication skills with children with additional needs, parents/carers, other staff and professionals
• Who are positive and flexible
• Who could have previous experience of working in a primary school and / or working with children, who have a special need or disability
