Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Temporary Staffing Operations Senior Manager to lead the Temporary Staffing service across the Trust, ensuring effective booking, deployment and management of temporary workers.

In this senior role you will oversee workforce planning, agency spend, governance and reporting to NHS England, while building strong relationships with clinical divisions and senior leaders to deliver safe staffing and service improvements.

Responsibilities

The post holder will work closely with Divisional teams, Heads of Service and senior leaders to deliver a responsive, high-quality service that supports safe staffing, workforce sustainability and organisational priorities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a high-profile leadership role with responsibility for operational performance, workforce efficiency, governance and financial oversight across the Temporary Staffing service.

The successful candidate will provide visible leadership to a large multidisciplinary team, ensuring high standards of customer service, performance and compliance. They will oversee the booking and management of bank and agency workers across multiple hospital sites, monitor service performance, lead reporting for NHS England and senior Trust leaders, and ensure the service continues to meet the needs of clinical divisions.

The role has significant responsibility for agency spend management, including monitoring usage, negotiating agency rates, authorising invoices and identifying opportunities to maximise the use of our Temporary workers. The post holder will also lead service improvement projects, develop and review policies and standard operating procedures, and work closely with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Payroll, Nursing, Medical Staffing and Operational Services.

You will represent the Trust at local, regional and system-wide forums, helping shape the future of temporary staffing across Bristol and the wider BNSSG system.
