Job summary

Fortem, part of the Willmott Dixon group, seeks an experienced Temporary Site Manager to lead a Birmingham retrofit and external refurbishment project for social housing. Based on site, you will oversee scaffold operations, weatherproofing roofing solutions, balcony replacements and coordination of direct and subcontractor trades from 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday, for a 3-month contract.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience of managing refurbishment and retrofit sites.
  • Experience on high-rise social housing sites and scaffold operations.
  • Minimum level 4 qualification (NVQ4 or HNC) or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong health and safety record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage direct and sub-contracted site trades.
  • Ensure timely delivery and adherence to safety policies.
  • Maintain health and safety records and inductions.
  • Coordinate scaffolding, roofing and balcony works.
  • Report to Project Manager on site progress.

Job description

Due to our continued growth, we are delighted to confirm we are currently seeking an experienced Temporary Site Manager to be based in Birmingham within our Midlands Projects division. Working hours are 08:00 - 16:00 Monday to Friday.

We require a TEMP Site Manager for 3 months. This is an ideal taster opportunity for someone to experience life at Fortem first-hand, providing you with the opportunity to gain valuable experience, expand your skill set and build a professional network.

The Project

This will be working within a Birmingham based £30m Retrofit construction and refurbishment contract.

Essential and Desirable Criteria
  • This will be refurbishing Social Housing properties including; high rise properties, erecting scaffold for access, weather proofing offering temporary roofing solutions. The contract will then move onto another projects consisting of a small block of flats, 2 storeys with residents onsite, removing and replacing front and rear balconies
  • Ensure safe, effective and timely delivery of the Retrofit/Construction and external refurbishment projects
  • Summer Court housing, hi rise, erecting scaffold for access, weather proofing temp solution on roof
    Roseleigh Rd, small block of flats, 2 storey residents onsite ripping of front and rear balconies and replace, scaffold
  • Lead and manage a team of direct and sub-contracted Construction and Trades staff.
  • Reporting into the Project Manager you will have direct responsibility for operational Site Management
  • To lead, assess and be responsible for all retrofit/construction works with the Projects division.
  • Ensure that Company Health & Safety Policies and procedures are strictly adhered to and work closely with Health & Safety Managers and Advisor's
  • Maintain and produce, on request, up-to-date Health & Safety records
  • Ensure all Environmental and Waste Management Policies are adhered to
  • Ensure that all staff, sub-contractors and visitors to the site are appropriately inducted
  • Fully comply with the Company’s Customer Satisfaction Policy and Procedures
  • Ensure all directly employed personnel work within the required specification and adhere to general Company Policies
  • Ensure that procedures and controls laid down by the Company are fully implemented by all site personnel
  • Motivate, support and manage directly employed site staff. Provide training, coaching, appraisal and support as required to improve the performance of directly employed site staff
  • Ensure site presentation is maintained at the correct standard at all times.
  • Organise regular site meetings and pre-plan and ensure efficient usage of all resources
Personal Qualities
  • Proven experience of managing construction projects
  • Experience of working on high rise properties, erecting scaffold for access, weather proofing offering temporary roofing solutions as well as removing and replacing front and rear balconies.
  • Experience of managing direct and sub contracted construction/refurbishment staff
  • Minimum level 4 qualification (NVQ4 or HNC) or equivalent experience
  • Scaffold inspection
  • Asbestos awareness (duty to manage would be desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience within the social housing sector (not essential)
