Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Meadowcroft School, Wakefield, WF1 4AD

Salary: £27,625 per annum

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Fixed Term Contract, 6 months

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join our close-knit team at Meadowcroft School located in Wakefield.

About the role

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager, undertaking general maintenance, security, porterage, and cleaning services at any of the specified sites, including various statutory checks such as asbestos visual checks, fire alarm weekly and periodic tests, water checks, etc.

Maintain Health and Safety paperwork and online systems in accordance with Acorn Care and Education policies and procedures and Independent School Standards.

Maintain site security, including opening and closing of the premises in line with procedures. Share locking and unlocking procedures with staff to ensure proper security. Inform the Site Manager of any issues. Be a named key holder for emergency call outs and liaise with the alarm company as needed.

Undertake regular checks such as asbestos visual inspections, fire alarm tests, water temperature checks, first aid kit checks, emergency lighting tests, fire door and extinguisher checks, ladder and equipment condition checks.

Place orders following procedures, including arranging delivery of materials for maintenance tasks.

Participate in emergency and fire marshal training, and be a member of the Health & Safety Committee. Be willing to undertake and maintain IOSH qualification and other training provided by Acorn.

Provide transport duties, including mini bus runs, and manage school vehicles to ensure they are in good condition and available when needed.

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Experience and proficiency in office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Minimum of two years in an office environment
• Excellent customer care skills
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Experience working within an educational setting (desirable)
