Job summary

Randstad CPE is recruiting a Telehandler Driver for short-term holiday cover on a busy new build housing development in Newcastle. You will work closely with the Site Manager and trades to keep logistics moving safely while the permanent driver is away.

This role requires a valid Telescopic Handler card (CPCS/NPORS), solid site experience, full PPE, and a UK driving licence. Based in or commutable to Newcastle upon Tyne, you must be reliable and safety-focused.

Qualifications

• Valid CPCS or NPORS Card with Telehandler category (Essential).
• Solid experience operating a Telehandler on housing sites.
• Full PPE (Hard hat, high-visibility vest, steel toe cap boots).
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Strong commitment to site health and safety standards.
• Excellent punctuality, reliability and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating a telescopic handler across an active residential housing site.
• Unloading delivery vehicles and distributing materials to designated plots.
• Assisting subcontractors and site trades with scheduled material lifts.
• Carrying out daily plant pre-checks, logging maintenance checks, and keeping the machine clean and secure.
• Following site traffic management plans and pedestrian segregation.
• Stepping off the machine to assist with site housekeeping and keeping the compound organised.
