Job summary

Randstad CPE is recruiting an experienced Telehandler Driver to provide holiday cover on a busy new build housing development in Newcastle. You will work closely with the Site Manager and trades to keep site logistics moving safely while the permanent driver is away.

Requirements include a valid CPCS or NPORS Telescopic Handler card, solid site experience on housing sites, full PPE and a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Valid CPCS or NPORS Telescopic Handler card.
• Solid experience operating a Telehandler on new build housing sites.
• Full PPE and UK Driving Licence.
• Based in or commutable to Newcastle upon Tyne.
• Strong commitment to site health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating a telescopic handler across an active residential housing site.
• Unloading delivery vehicles and distributing materials to designated plots.
• Assisting sub-contractors and site trades with scheduled material lifts.
• Carrying out daily plant pre-checks, logging maintenance checks, and keeping the machine clean and secure.
• Following site traffic management plans and ensuring pedestrian safety around live plots.
• Stepping off the machine when required to assist with general site housekeeping and keeping the compound organised.

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting an experienced Telehandler Driver to provide short-term holiday cover on a busy new build housing development in Newcastle.

This is an ideal opportunity for a reliable operator looking to pick up immediate contract hours. Working closely with the Site Manager and trade teams, you will be key to keeping site logistics moving safely and smoothly while the permanent driver is away.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operating a telescopic handler across an active residential housing site.
• Unloading delivery vehicles and distributing materials (bricks, blocks, timber, roof trusses) to designated plots.
• Assisting sub-contractors and site trades with scheduled material lifts.
• Carrying out daily plant pre-checks, logging maintenance checks, and keeping the machine clean and secure.
• Following site traffic management plans and ensuring strict adherence to pedestrian segregation around live plots.
• Stepping off the machine when required to assist with general site housekeeping and keeping the compound organised.

Requirements:

• Valid CPCS or NPORS Card with Telescopic Handler category (Essential).
• Solid experience operating a Telehandler on new build housing sites.
• Full PPE (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, steel toe cap boots).
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Strong commitment to site health and safety standards.
• Excellent punctuality, reliability, and communication skills.
• Based in or easily commutable to Newcastle upon Tyne.
