Main Purpose of the Role

As a Planning Surveyor based at our modern Manchester offices, you will be part of the Acquisition & Planning team. This technical SME role involves managing delivery activities related to securing planning rights necessary for project delivery. Projects may include MNO customer initiatives (upgrades, replacements, new sites, temporary or permanent) as well as specialist projects involving Solar PV and EV solutions.

The Planning Surveyor is expected to work across multiple client programmes. Therefore, being a team player with the technical expertise to advise on and execute planning activities is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct site surveys and planning appraisals to facilitate project delivery.
  2. Prepare planning applications and manage them through the entire planning process.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders, providing expert advice on technical planning matters.
  4. Manage work volume effectively, both directly and through suppliers.
  5. Perform research and analysis to identify trends affecting project progression.
  6. Conduct feasibility studies for new telecom infrastructure.
  7. Work with local authorities, developers, and community stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance.
  8. Analyze network performance data to identify improvement areas.
  9. Prepare detailed planning reports and documentation.
  10. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  11. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently.
  12. Provide technical support and mentorship to junior team members.
  13. Analyze market data and present insights to clients.
  14. Advise clients on construction regulations and legal considerations.
  15. Assess impacts of economic, social, and environmental developments.
Key Attributes

We seek a candidate with excellent analytical and numerical skills, effective communication abilities (both written and verbal), and strong interpersonal skills. Negotiation, networking, and confident presentation skills are essential. An interest in legal matters, policies, and procedures is valuable, along with a creative, innovative approach to problem-solving. Commercial awareness, understanding of the telecom sector, and proficiency with IT and relevant software are also required.
