Job summary

Spirit Energy is seeking an Offshore Telecoms Technician to maintain and service telecoms systems offshore. You will perform planned and unplanned maintenance, troubleshoot, calibrate devices, and coordinate with shift teams ensuring safe, compliant operations.

The role includes stock control, documentation, and contractor supervision within a 2 weeks on/3 weeks off rotation. The position requires offshore experience, valid survival/medical/MIST certifications, and COMPEX Ex01-04.

Qualifications

  • Experience offshore in the E&P industry.
  • Ability to perform calculations and conversions for calibration/testing.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Current Offshore Survival, Offshore Medical and MIST certificates.
  • COMPEX Ex01-04 certification is required.

THE OPPORTUNITY – TELECOMS TECHNICIAN, OFFSHORE

This role exists to maintain offshore telecoms systems and equipment to ensure safe and efficient offshore operations. The role holder performs maintenance, repair and replacement activities in their own area of expertise, according to work programmes, the MMS, maintenance planning and budget, in order to maximize the equipment reliability and availability and reduce replacement costs. This is performed in liaison with the Shift Supervisor and I&E Team Leader and in compliance with applicable legislative requirements, existing procedures and standards, including HSEQ.

Duration: 12 month contract - Core role required until Cease of Production (est 2028)

Location: Offshore

Rotation/Hours: 2 weeks on/3 weeks off working a 12-hour day

Overtime: Payable at 1.25%/hr

Crew Change: Blackpool

No travel allowance payable for mobilisation.

AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…

In role, you will be accountable for:

  • Telecoms Maintenance - Maintain safety instrumented systems to design and performance standards, conduct planned and unplanned maintenance, repair and replacement activities on the offshore systems, according to the work programme, maintenance planning.
  • Troubleshooting - Execute urgent and first line maintenance to determine the best way to resolve the situation and reduce the impact of consequences. Perform root causes analysis of unexpected and structural failures.
  • Inspections and Calibration - Carry out planned inspections, identify problems and take corrective action as needed.
  • Detailed Work Planning - Prioritize and plan own planned and unplanned maintenance activities within own area of expertise during the shift, in line with the work program and offshore operational planning.
  • Stock Requisition - Identify replacement parts and other stock that needs to be requisitioned. Move stock and materials to and from all work sites and perform work activities neatly and efficiently, according to appropriate procedures, including HSEQ, in order to guarantee sufficient availability of material and its use in a safe, environmentally sound way
  • Administration - Administer work orders, maintenance activities, system modifications and other relevant information into MMS in line with operating procedures and formats, to ensure the availability and accuracy of information during maintenance or modification activities and comply with legislation and HSEQ standards. This includes communicating relevant information to the next shift, according to handover reporting format
  • Contractor Supervision - Guide contract personnel or specialist in own area of expertise, supervise, review and evaluate the quality of their repair or maintenance activities according to industry, legislative and Spirit Energy standards.
  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality - Comply with HSEQ procedures, rules and regulations and contribute to building awareness among other personnel in and outside the department, in order to maintain and continuously improve a safe and healthy working environment. Conduct and/or attend safety briefings, recognize and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions to minimize accidents, incidents and environmental harm. Participate in the emergency team to ensure fast resolution of emergency situations and protect the safety and security of all personnel and equipment.
ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demontrable telecoms offshore experience in the E&P industry
  • Familiar with mathematical calculations and conversions utilised in the calibration and testing of devices
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Current valid Offshore Survival, Offshore Medical and MIST
