Job summary

ZenaTech is seeking a Telecom Designer on the outskirts of Manchester to design and develop fibre-optic networks and telecom infrastructure. You will produce high-level and low-level network designs, CAD drawings, and design documentation while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

The role requires experience in telecom or fibre-optic network design, proficiency in AutoCAD, and a good understanding of FTTP/FTTH networks.

Qualifications

We are seeking skilled Telecom Designers to support our expanding telecommunications projects based on the outskirts of Manchester.

Job Overview

The Telecom Designer will be responsible for designing and developing fibre-optic networks (FTTP/FTTH) and telecommunications infrastructure. The role involves producing accurate technical drawings, network layouts and design documentation while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design fibre-optic networks, including FTTP/FTTH and associated telecommunications infrastructure.
• Produce high-level and low-level network designs, CAD drawings and technical specifications.
• Develop underground and overhead network layouts, including ducts, chambers, poles and cable routes.
• Review site surveys and translate findings into practical network designs.
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation and as-built drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with UK telecommunications standards and applicable Openreach PIA requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, surveyors and project managers to support project delivery.
• Identify design challenges and provide effective technical solutions.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in telecommunications or fibre-optic network design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
• Good understanding of FTTP/FTTH networks and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and site survey information.
• Knowledge of GIS software (QGIS/ArcGIS) is desirable.
• Familiarity with Openreach PIA requirements is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
