Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Portfolio Manager-Technology to shape how the STMJ Technology organisation prioritises, plans and tracks its portfolio of initiatives. You will lead portfolio planning, OKR cycles, and governance to enable better prioritisation and alignment with strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in portfolio management, enterprise PMO, programme management or portfolio governance.
• Proven experience developing and improving portfolio management frameworks and processes.
• Experience leading strategic planning, goal-setting and OKR cycles.
• Strong experience designing initiative intake, prioritisation and governance processes.
• Ability to assess capacity, priorities and trade-offs, with the confidence to challenge.
• Experience establishing and running executive operating cadences, including business reviews.
• Experience in technology, SaaS, digital product or multi-product environments.
• Strong analytical and written communication skills.
• A confident influencer, able to challenge senior stakeholders without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a single view of all initiatives, including ownership, resourcing, progress and risks.
• Design and run intake and prioritisation to decide when initiatives start.
• Make transparent recommendations based on value, capacity, dependencies and risk.
• Run planning and OKR cycles, including objective setting and progress reporting.
• Lead the transition to continuous planning within the leadership cadence.
• Ensure initiatives are resourced and not over-committed across Technology functions.
• Review demand and resource allocation across projects and the wider portfolio.
• Delivery oversight, risk and compliance; highlight where business outcomes are at risk.
• Identify dependencies and governance threads; own dependency management forums.
