JMC Legal Recruitment is assisting a Top 20 International Law Firm in Aberdeen to recruit a Technology & Media Associate (1-4 PQE). You will be embedded in a Tier 1 ranked team handling high-quality technology and commercial contracts work.

The role offers exposure to cutting-edge areas such as AI, fintech and data protection, with a strong Scottish team culture and international platform. You will build client relationships and take on responsibilities from day one.

Qualifications

The Role & The Work

The team works with an impressive range of clients, from major financial institutions and household names to innovative technology businesses, universities and entrepreneurial companies.

Your work will span complex commercial contracts, technology procurement, outsourcing, software and SaaS agreements, licensing, intellectual property and data protection. Matters range from negotiating significant technology agreements to advising on the commercial arrangements behind new products, services and innovations. There is also exposure to developing areas such as artificial intelligence, fintech, digital health and other emerging technologies.

The Scottish team benefits from the resources and international connections of a wider UK practice while maintaining a close-knit, collaborative culture. With a top quality workload, you have the opportunity to contribute to existing, complex matters, work alongside experienced practitioners and take responsibility for your own files from day one.

Your Experience

• You are a Scottish Qualified Solicitor with 1-4 PQE and experience in commercial contracts, technology, IT, intellectual property or data protection.
• You have strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage your own matters and support Partners on complex, high-value transactions.
• You bring a commercially minded approach and can translate legal issues into clear, practical advice that supports clients' business objectives.
• You are confident dealing directly with clients and building effective relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
• You are keen to contribute to a growing practice and take an active role in client development and wider team initiatives.
