Job summary

Wellington College Grammar School in Antrim-Belfast is seeking a Technician 2 to provide technical support to teaching staff and manage practical resources. The role includes supervising staff, developing teaching aids, and preparing resources for classes with strong emphasis on health and safety and inventory control.

The post requires five GCSEs including English, Maths and Technology & Design or an engineering/tech qualification, plus experience in a technology/engineering setting.

Qualifications

  • Five GCSE’s (Grades A*-C) to include English Language, Mathematics and Technology & Design or a Level 2 vocational qualification in an Engineering/Technology related discipline, or equivalent or higher level qualifications
  • Have paid experience of working in a Technology & Design department in a post-primary school and/or manufacturing/engineering workshop
  • Demonstrable evidence of knowledge of:The requirements of a Technician 2Health and safety regulations, as relevant to the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and assistance to teaching staff in the implementation of the school’s/department's educational programme.
  • Supervise appropriate staff (shared supervision), including managing and allocating duties.
  • Assist teaching staff in developing and manufacturing teaching aids and models.
  • Prepare resources for all classes including setting up, testing, demonstrating and dismantling suitable resources as per agreed schemes of work.
  • Collect, clean and store all equipment and materials securely in designated storage areas.
