Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Technician 2 to provide technical support for teaching staff. You will supervise staff, manage resources, and assist in developing teaching aids and practical resources within the Technology & Design department.

The role requires GCSEs including English/Maths/Technology & Design, experience in a school or workshop, and knowledge of health and safety. A willingness to undertake further training is expected.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs (A*-C) including English Language, Maths and Technology & Design or equivalent.
• Experience in a Technology & Design department in a post-primary school or manufacturing/engineering workshop.
• Knowledge of Technician 2 duties, health and safety regulations, and general admin processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and allocate duties.
• Provide on-the-job training to staff.
• Develop and maintain facilities and practical resources.
• Assist teaching staff in creating and manufacturing teaching aids.
• Prepare resources for classes and demonstrate equipment.
• Collect, clean and store equipment securely.
• Dispose of used materials safely.
• Ensure checks of materials/equipment by qualified personnel.
• Inform line manager of unsafe items and arrange repair/disposal.
• Advise on health and safety related to equipment.
